We have duly considered your proposition as regards a work upon Charterhouse School. We would be very glad indeed to make this the next in the school series if we could only see our way clear in the matter, we are however only printing 250 of Harrow and Uppingham and fear we could not print a larger number of Charterhouse and could not afford anything like the sum you name for so small a number. If however you could say a much lower sum for the small edition and reserve the copyright for future editions to yourself, we think the matter might be arranged.
